Would it be possible to make these Matter compatible? Even just as a dumb motion sensor it would help a lot with my home automation. I just need something that accurately can thell if im still in the room when sitting in front of the computer or am just laying on the couch. Detecting areas of the same room is nice, but not needed in my case. This would be the only usecase for which i would need HomeAssistant so id love to steer around that.

thanks for the video, but I'm clearly not convinced, 1) the fixing with the double-sided tape, amateur hack ... 2) the battery system is hack ... (have to remove them to recharge them ...) 3) the price of the lock + have to add batteries, add a hub (should be included) I hesitated to buy but there, I had all the arguments not to take the step ...

Another downside of the low bandwidth in Zigbee is OTA ("over the air") firmware updates can take a very long time - 30 minutes+. Not a "show stopper", but it's a consideration.

I'm somewhat confused about the angle of detection. Is it 120 degrees in front (60 left, 60 right) or 60 degrees in front (30 left, 30 right)?

Maybe I'm missing something but after setting up with fully kiosk with a samsung galaxy tab A9+ I dont see a binary sensor motion entity for the tablet. All i have is the motion sensor detected switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Absolute security risk I would like to share my experience with the product and the support here and I advise everyone not to buy this product. I bought the SwitchBot Lock Pro + Hub Mini Matter Enabled + Keypad Touch and Dual Power Pack on 16 June 2024 via the manufacturer's website. After about 3 days this was also with me. The battery pack was not included - only when I asked did I get the answer that this was not available and would only be delivered at a later date. I also bought an ABUS locking cylinder with keys from Amazon. I then installed everything the following Sunday. First the ABUS locking cylinder, then the "SwitchBot Lock Pro", there are 2 adapter plates included and one of them fitted me, a magnet then had to be attached to the door frame. To install it, I had to download the app onto my mobile phone. I was then able to connect to the Lock Pro via the app and was then able to calibrate it using the instructions (opening and closing) - I then installed the latest firmware. Opening and closing via the app worked fine. I then installed the "Keypad Touch". First insert the batteries and then connect via the app - then a connection had to be established between the "Keypad Touch" and the "SwitchBot Lock Pro" - this failed several times and only after I had installed the latest firmware on the "Keypad Touch" was a connection to the lock possible. I didn't use the hub for the time being because I don't have a "Matter"-capable device at the moment. On Sunday, opening and closing worked perfectly via the app and also via the keypad. Then on Monday, my wife called me at work to say that she could no longer get into the house. I then went home from work. The door no longer opened. The keypad confirmed the entry and you could also hear the motor from outside, but it only opened the "lock bolt" and no longer the "lock latch" - as my wife and I hadn't taken a key with us, we couldn't get in at first. I couldn't open the door via the app either - despite locking and opening it several times, the drive still failed to open the "lock latch" - the app displayed "Drive blocked". Fortunately, I found the "emergency unlocking" function in the app before I wanted to call the locksmith. With this function, the drive also managed to open the "lock latch". Once we were back in the house, I immediately recalibrated the "SwitchBot Lock Pro" and it worked again without any problems until the afternoon: We were in the garden and suddenly the front door opened as if by magic - we hear this as we have a bell wind chime hanging on the door and when the door opens this hits the wind chime and the bells play.... We didn't have a mobile phone with us in the garden at all, so we couldn't have activated anything by chance and I'm apparently not the only user to whom this has happened (see another user's post: www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/11wea3g/beware_of_switchbot_locks/?rdt=52610 or www.amazon.de/gp/customer-reviews/R1OA1RUR1XVIJL/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0CR67GWML). The app's log says "manual opening" at the time - but nobody was in the house... This thing is a security disaster - imagine going on holiday and then the door opens - no insurance will cover such damage if the place is empty. The next disaster is the support. I dismantled the lock immediately after it opened automatically as if by magic and reported my problems to support and asked for it to be returned. They only want to see logs and refuse to give me a free return. Fortunately, I still have a 30-day right of return, so I now have to send the lap abroad to Poland at my own expense. I can therefore only advise anyone not to make the purchase. There are masses of negative reviews on the manufacturer's website - the reviews are only ever sorted according to the positive ones, which says it all...

been trying. but not willing to spend $500 on a cell connected pad. been through two ipads, two android pads none of them were compatible. tried a google nest. turns out sonebody had prehregistered it with the mesh network and was busy controlling my stuff, you need their permission to re-use it, apparently it wasnt as new as was claimed. if you go pc or linux for proper automation you have to use the android apps virtually on desktop(i dont trust that to be reliable). im for sure not paying full price for a nest, turns out its just a screen. i cannot find a reasonable solution. lets see what you have :) you should also look up usb ribbon cables. they have near 1mm deep plugs, almost invisible.

This is the thing that ticks me off with HA. These videos work at the time of this video posting, then someone gets bored at HA and says hmmm lets **** some stuff up and break everything. Just assume any video posted a year ago on youtube is out of date and 80% of them are now wrong directions. THIS is why HA will never be the top dog because they keep changing things and for beginners like me it makes it even more frustrating to a point where we give up and say screw it. SOMEONE needs to get in the ear of paulo and tell him to slow the hell down! I imagine even some content creators are getting tired of it as well unless they have no life and commit 100% of their time to this.

Just bought three - one registered in HA, it is coming up as discovered in esphome is it safe to 'Adopt' - and then upgrade via ESPHOME. I have a device from a different source which breaks if I adopt and upgrade. PS the instructions seem to be missing the improved installation over bluetooth

I have it with the hub mini but it never reports their state to HA. It is always Unknown there. Even when the tapping/clicking the buttons on HA works

The reason that don't supply a local API is because they want to collect data on how you use the appliance, data which actually belongs to you as the owner of the appliance. That can only be collected by a cloud based API. Then they use that remote data model to shut down your use of the appliance you paid your good money for. Just like being a serf in the middle ages.
